McCurley Chevrolet Compares:

2023 Silverado vs. 2023 Colorado

Truck lovers have a lot of choices at McCurley Chevrolet.

If you are looking for a reliable truck to handle work and recreational needs, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and 2023 Chevrolet Colorado are excellent choices, but which is right for you? We don't blame you if you are on the fence regarding these great-looking trucks. Since the Colorado has had a complete redesign this year that increases its stance and vastly improves the interior, choosing may be difficult as it gets even more challenging to distinguish from the larger Silverado. Our team at McCurley Chevrolet is here to help! We'll guide you through your options so you can choose the truck that delivers everything you need to accomplish your goals and enjoy a truck fit for your lifestyle.

Design

The Chevy Silverado is a full-size pickup truck that comes in three cab sizes, three bed lengths, four engine options, and nine trim levels. It's an impressive half-ton truck that allows you to find an option that matches your tastes and lifestyle needs, whether you need a basic work truck or want to luxuriate in the best amenities of the model year with the top-of-the-line High Country.

The Chevy Colorado keeps things simple and comes exclusively in one body style, one bed length, and one engine option with two degrees of tuning to beef up the off-road-oriented trim level and the higher of the five model options. Simple doesn't mean lacking. There are plenty of amenities and capabilities to satisfy, and the lower price point makes it an attractive option if you don't need the full capacity of a half-ton truck that the Silverado delivers.

Performance

As the larger of the two, the Silverado comes with more choices. Four engine options are on tap from a spunky turbocharged four-cylinder that can hold its own among a lineup of burly V8 engines and a highly efficient DURAMAX diesel. The same base four-cylinder available for the Silverado is the standard setup in Colorado. If you want to know how a four-cylinder can deliver the capability you need, check out the specs side-by-side. Numbers don't lie, and the turbocharged four-cylinder has enough power to go toe to toe with a V8 and even outperforms the diesel engine in horsepower output.

Capability

A full-size pickup like the Chevy Silverado will allow you to tackle almost anything life throws your way and double as a reliable work truck. Realists understand that the Silverado more than meets the average driver's needs, with towing capacities of up to 13,300 pounds and payloads of up to 2,280 pounds. If that seems over the top for your actual day-to-day needs or the one-off vacation where you need to haul large recreational toys, the Colorado allows you the perks of truck ownership without paying for a full-time/full-size truck. If you are not frequently towing and hauling but want the flexibility to occasionally tow your recreational vehicles or handle DIY projects, then the Colorado allows you to tow up to 7,700 pounds and load up to 1,610 pounds.

Technology

If screen size matters to you, every Chevy Colorado comes standard with an 11.3-inch infotainment system with wireless charging, Google Built-in, and plenty of standard connectivity features like wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The touchscreen experience is nearly identical to the Silverado, although all models except the work truck get a massive 13.4-inch tablet-like screen. Both trucks also get an impressive suite of safety and driver assistance features like forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist at no additional cost.
